Courtesy: Ali Hajimiri/Caltech A Group of researchers from California institute of Technology led by Ali Hazimiri, developed a gyroscope that is 500 times smaller than the current one.This tiny one uses a new technique called "Reciprocal Sensitivity Enhancement" developed by the group.

A recent development would make electricity generation from the sun's heat more efficient, by using ceramic-metal plates for heat transfer at higher temperatures and at elevated pressures.
